Chef Weisleder in the News

By Henry Edmunds ’21

A valuable skill to have for long days such as these is the ability to cook yourself a nice meal. On March 24, The Richmond Times-Dispatch featured Baird Weisleder ’21, who was inspired to start cooking after seeing a delicious-looking bowl of ramen on Tik Tok.

The article explores how cooking is something unfamiliar to most teen boys and how great it is for them to start learning to survive in the forseeable future. “What they’re realizing is that they’ve never really found their way around the kitchen,” said his mom, Shannon Weisleder, in the article. “It’s nice to know they’re using Tik Tok for something productive.”

Weisleder’s interest started with enhancing a simple package of ramen, but quickly inspired him to make other things, from breakfast sandwiches to bolognese to cheesy sausage dip, either learning from Tik Tok or other recipes he finds online. “Because I’m home all the time, I want to experiment with new types of food and make something I enjoy,” said Weisleder.
